Love is a Constant

Love even when love is hiding
When it is unsure or subsiding
Love is the candle in the window
Guiding the beloved with its glow
Signifying a welcoming heart
And every day is a brand new start

Love needs no invitation
And there is no expiration
It lives inside of all of us
All we need to do is trust
When we gather together it is there
Through any heartache or despair

Whether you’re silent in love or shout it out
You know it when you see it without a doubt
Love is gentle forgiving and kind
It would never complicate the mind
Love is the anchor that keeps us steady
And it will be here when you’re ready

Oneness

Free from delusion I honor inclusion
The world began from one DNA strand
Your supremacy’s based on extremities
Or a belief designed for your relief
Your mechanisms separate and encourage hate
But the machines you devise will be your demise
We are all connected and love is resurrected
Daily in the universe one kindness will reverse
A million inequities and righteousness frees
Mankind from the chains of ignorance’s remains
You seek to downgrade what is divinely made
Yet you’re powerless over what is blessed
It is your greed that feeds this need
To categorize man with your lies
Craving superiority highlights your inferiority
We’re all jewels of equal worth formed at birth
Each adding splendor with the good we render
Your blessings will be cursed and your spoils dispersed
Until you acquiesce to the reality of oneness

Dying from Consumption

They‘re all dying of consumption
But the disease was not in their lungs
No bacteria caused the dysfunction
It was the bling that had them sprung

They were consumed with getting things
Most of which they couldn’t afford
Cars, clothes, diamond rings
Gadgets never left them bored

They were consumed by the wanting
Of things someone else had
The obsession was quite haunting
Since those things were merely fads

I watched them waste from this disease
As life faded from their eyes
They couldn’t get enough to please
And the wanting they despised

Consumption is highly contagious
And very hard to cure
Purchases become outrageous
Bills are too much to endure

And in the final days
Surrounded by their useless stuff
Those moments of bliss are a haze
I hope they finally got enough
